Russian Teen Waving LGBT Flag Tackled By Police And Olympic Officials
Russian teen Pavel Lebedev is taken to the ground and detained by Russian police for waving a rainbow flag during a Russian Olympic torch relay through Voronezh, Russia.
It's important to note Lebedev was detained by both Russian police AND Olympic security officials. Wonder what the International Olympic Committee has to say to explain that?
Lebedev tells The Associated Press: “Hosting the games here contradicts the basic principles of the Olympics, which is to cultivate tolerance." He cites the “growing homophobia in Russia as the main reason for his protest.”
Think you'd feel safe as a gay person or gay supporter heading into Sochi, Instincters?
