Russian Vigilantes Assault, Rape Gay Man On Video

History's video archives of Russian atrocities against its own people grew by one horrific number this week as a recording of vigilantes assaulting and raping a gay man made its way online. The video, which came online through popular social app WhatsApp, shows the victim being forced at gunpoint to admit that he's gay.

Following the admission, the perpetrators strip him naked, burn his close, beat him and threaten him at gunpoint before forcing him to sodomize himself by sitting on a bottle. At one point in the video the bottle is beaten further into the victim with a baseball bat.

"We made him sit on a bottle so that he repents for his sins and comes to reason," one of the alleged attackers, still at large, told Radio Free Europe (which has seen the video). "We did this to protect the dignity of Uzbeks. We live and work here, we are in contact with people of different nationalities. There will be no respect for us otherwise."

The attacker went on to confirm that their victim was part of the ongoing neo-Nazi stings that lure gay men into torturous situations through a popular Russian dating site.

"Russian guys caught him and called us to say they had a gay Uzbek," the attacker continued. "We then questioned him and he confessed to everything. There were six or seven of us. The Russians told us he was a pedophile, which he denied. But he confessed that he was gay."

Novosibirsk police say that an investigation into the attack has not been launched because no one has come forward to file a report. Oddly enough, the video and the video's description that it happened in or near the Russian city is not enough for local authorities to attempt to intervene.

Obviously, this, the latest in what is best described as a horror movie come to life for Russia's LGBT community (especially gay men, it seems), is an undeniable symptom of the country's official war on its gay population. Political and diplomatic efforts to aid human rights in Russia must be stepped up immediately by sympathetic world leaders.

This story and others like it are so upsetting and the worst part is the ignorance and lack of knowledge of it by people.

Where can I find the original video to showcase for my class?

people sometimes pretend that laws don't mean anything! look at this video! and tell me laws that demean anyone don't mean anything! stop hurting people.......i'd ask people who are hurting others.....how would you like this done to you? come on already.......people are so stupid sometimes....and just plain evil in some of the things they do.........i wish i could do something to help this young man.......i wish........all i can do is think of him.......meditate for him.....send him a prayer.......and wish that he knows he's not alone in this crazy world of ours!

If Mother Russia is unable or unwilling to protect her own children, then gay athletes will be in grave danger at the Olympics.

Idol Russia

This is a true horror story. If any of these kids find a way to the USA, and need a home, I would happily provide it!

Where do people learn this sort of hatered? What is the source of these vulgar attactions? Where have these people lost their humanity, and instead became monsters? These questions need answers. My heart goes out to the victim. No one deserves this treatment.

Russia is considered a sovereign country. Like China, Britain and the U.S.A. I don't know about "world laws" whatever those are, but I don't think this is right. I think that this is no different that white on black hate crimes. I also think that it IS Russia and, as long as the world governments are at least trying to do something, then eventually it will work itself out. If not, then that was what is meant to be and we'll most likely end up in another World War over yet another fact of differences. You'd think we as a species would have learned by now not to confront hate with hate.

I am utterly disgusted.  What do politicians expect is going to happen when they condone hatred and discrimination??  It only begets and perpetuates retribution. The perpetrators only feel support from their country if their government allows atrocities like this to happen....

The world needs to step in and put an end to this. This "law" they enacted is a violation of world laws. Especially in a 1st world country like Russia... They need to be setting an example.  Sure they can not like gay people. But to put into law to discriminate is another thing.   Abysmal. Absolutely abysmal, and a travesty on the UN and other countries, including the US, for not stepping in sooner.

How many more horror stories do we have to hear before someone does something?

My evening just crashed big time.  My heart goes out to this guy and also to the perpetrators caught in a culture of violent ignorance.
