Sassy Columbus Pride Photo Goes Viral!

An image taken by Todd Popp at Stonewall Columbus Pride over the weekend has ricocheted across the Internet, with mainstream outlets like Buzzfeed and Gawker sharing it this week.

The woman in the photo (a.k.a. our new spirit animal)—who has finally given choreography to the collective feeling the community has about Pride hecklers—has been identified as Juanita McDade by commenters on Outlook Columbus' FB page. She is over it, officially.

("Classic Juanita!" wrote one commenter who inadvertently gifted us with our new favorite line of the summer.)

"My husband Doug Motz said to me, 'it's about the little 'victories' that everyone experiences in the face of adversity each day! That's what you captured. It speaks to a LOT of us!'" Popp wrote while discussing the image with Buzzfeed.

Classic Juanita!

Thanks so much for picking up and posting my photo. I'm truly honored!! Stonewall Columbus Pride was celebrated by over 300,000 this year and a fabulous time was had by all. This picture of our new Lady of Pride Juanita McDade is proof of that! Join us any time! All our welcome in our Capital city! Cheers ~ Todd
