Trainer Bob Harper Speaks Out As A Gay Man On 'The Biggest Loser' For The First Time

The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper spoke out on his sexual orientation the show for the first time last night, revealing (work with us here, guys) that he's gay in support of a contestant named Bobby, who's been struggling to come out.

Watch.

'The Biggest Loser': Trainer Bob Harper Comes Out As Gay

Harper said on the show:

"I haven’t talked about my sexuality on this show ever. And now, meeting Bobby, I really do believe this is the right time. I want to show Bobby that he doesn’t have to live in shame. When I came out, when I was 17 years old, it was one of those things where I realized that there was going to be so many obstacles, but being gay doesn’t mean being weak. And being gay doesn’t mean that you are less than anybody else. It’s just who you are.”

Now, we know, we know. You "already knew he was gay." "The sky is blue." Etc., etc.

But we still think there's value in Harper speaking publicly about his sexual orientation and working to increase visibility as a gay man. We think that contestant, Bobby--and perhaps some viewers at home might agree.

What do you think?

Harper thanked his supporters on Twitter, saying:

"THANK YOU to everyone that supported my decision to talk about being gay w/ Bobby. I felt like it was appropriate & necessary. LOVE Y'ALL!!"

Does anyone not remember, about 2 years ago that he and his co-star were "engaged" to be married? Then the network dropped the whole idea?

Not a huge surprise, but a lot of people love this guy and he helps a lot of people, so it's good PR regardless of how obvious it was.

Its good that he spoke up, but wish the "out" celebrities would stop using another's obstacle as theirs to suddenly stand up for. Stand up for yourselves, that's the message I want to be hearing, but for Bobby's sake this will be a HUGE show of support

EAbbott, totally agree. "You" have to make the decision about "coming out", when "you" are ready, the reason is for "you", not anyone else, it's all about "you". Harper coming out maybe was something he had to air due to gossip travelling on the Network, Internet etc. I hope Bobby will now start to feel better, achieve his goals, and continue in a loving relationship with his father. Parents are suppose to love us all unconditionally. I never had the chance to tell my parents.
