TX: Country Western Bar Sues Over Fake Website Billing It As A Gay Bar

Wow, the country western nightlife industry in Webster, Texas is cutthroat.

Owners of Buck Wild, which opened earlier this year, are alleging that rival country western bar Big Texas created a fake website promoting the new spot as a gay bar. The lawsuit goes on to claim that folks involved in Big Texas even created a fake flyer for "Butt Wild" that used an image of two naked men having sex. Buck Wild reps claim that being billed as a gay bar has cost them $5 million.

The Houston Chronicle reports:

Mobasser's lawyer Mark Lazarz said it took his client close to three months to take down the site, first contacting GoDaddy and then the Webster police. Lazarz said police told him that ownership of the site was traced back to the Big Texas location at E. NASA Rd. 1.

Buck Wild found out about the fake site after someone called to ask about it. Efforts to take down the site were successful by August.

"It looked like the real deal," said Lazarz.

Lazarz supplied a screenshot of the site. It was pornographic and featured two men in cowboy boots under the words Butt Wild.

Lawyers also claim that the website has tarnished Buck Wild's reputation. They're asking for a jury trial.

Are Buck Wild's owners over reacting?
