UFC Star Joseph Benavidez Ready To See An Openly Gay Male Fighter "Beat The Shit Out Of Somebody"
UFC cage fighter Joseph Benavidez wants his sport to take the gay athlete moment in history and run with it (or at least throw some targeted punches with it). When asked by the media about his feelings on an openly gay male fighter potentially coming to the decidedly testosterone-fueled UFC, Benavidez responded with excitement.
"It would be cool to see a gay guy beat the shit out of somebody," he said. "I think that would be much cooler. Busting a stereotype.”
Unfortunately, not everyone in the UFC shares the furor.
"I don't really know what I think about homosexuality and MMA," fighter Jon Jones said. "I've never really put much thought into it. It's a very sensitive topic. I'd rather not even comment on it."
But before Jones' comment has you wishing he'd be the one to first face an openly gay fighter in the ring, UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell ends the hypotheticals on a high note. "If he's tough, who cares?" Liddell said. "If he's a fighter, he's a fighter. As long as he wins fights, it doesn't matter."
