World Health Organization Endorses PrEP For Gay Men

World Health Organization (WHO) endorsed the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) among men who have sex with men.

WHO says in a statement:

For the first time, WHO strongly recommends men who have sex with men consider taking antiretroviral medicines as an additional method of preventing HIV infection (pre-exposure prophylaxis)** alongside the use of condoms. Rates of HIV infection among men who have sex with men remain high almost everywhere and new prevention options are urgently needed.

Modelling estimates that, globally, 20-25% reductions in HIV incidence among men who have sex with men could be achieved through pre-exposure prophylaxis, averting up to 1 million new infections among this group over 10 years.

Does the World Health Organization's endorsement impact your views on PrEP, Instincters?

I Cry for help against France! We have an epidemic disease named Chikungunya a disease comes from a tiger mosquitos. therefore this mosquitos have been developed in west Africa countries. never we never have this mosquitos in Guadeloupe an Martinique. So many people are dying and are sick, no body cares even politician men and women about this. A virus where nobody can find no cures. Both French island's citizens help themselves. So we need to talk to someone to  the world health organization to explain how sick both islands population are suffering from this. no French government elected men and women don't talk to us. we are desperate don't know what to do. Even doctors getting infected when welcome a patient. Can you Imagine how hard this virus has fought with us. It attacks our spinal cord system, and cannot even find any medication to heal this virus. has caused many people death. So something has to be done about it.

It doesn't matter how many reputable organizations recommend it, until it is less than $1300 for a month supply, I guarantee it isn't going to be a hot item, unfortunately.

The WHO's recommendations make perfect sense.  Sexually active men should use it.    Unfortunately, as usual, the USA is funding the rest of the world's treatment with costs here in the thousands-of-dollars per year, and in the rest of world, just $100's
