'X-Men' Director Bryan Singer Accused Of Sexually Abusing Teenage Boy

Bryan Singer, director of the much anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past is now being sued in Hawaii federal court and faces allegations that he sexually abused a teenage boy in 1999.

According to Variety:

The plaintiff, Michael Egan, claims he was 17 when Singer forcibly sodomized him, among other allegations. Egan’s lawyers, led by Jeff Herman, allege that Singer provided him with drugs and alcohol and flew him to Hawaii on more than one occasion in 1999. His suit claims battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy by unreasonable intrusion, and it seeks unspecified damages.

Singer’s attorney, Marty Singer, called the lawsuit “absurd and defamatory.”

“The claims made against Bryan Singer are completely without merit,” the attorney said. “We are very confident that Bryan will be vindicated.”

Egan, an aspiring actor and model at the time, claims that Singer provided him with several drugs, including cocaine, a pill identified as “green triangle” which is believed to be a reference to the drug Ectasy, Xanax, Rohypnol, and Vicodin or Percocet, in addition to alcoholic beverages.

Egan went on to detail what allegedly went down during an encounter with Singer and Marc Collins-Rector, who isn't named as a defendant, but is accused of initiating the alleged sexual abuse.

Egan's suit states:

Collins-Rector ordered Plaintiff out of the pool, and Defendant Singer hugged Plaintiff and grabbed his bare buttocks. They then went to the jacuzzi where Collins-Rector had Plaintiff sit on his lap and fondled Plaintiff’s genitals. Collins-Rector then passed Plaintiff to Defendant Singer and Plaintiff was made to sit on Defendant Singer’s lap. Defendant Singer provided an alcoholic beverage to Plaintiff and mentioned finding a role for him in an upcoming movie that he was directing. Defendant Singer told Plaintiff how “this group” controls Hollywood, and that he was sexy. Defendant Singer masturbated Plaintiff and then performed oral sex upon him. Defendant Singer solicited Plaintiff to perform oral sex upon him which Plaintiff resisted. Defendant Singer flagrantly disregarded Plaintiff’s unwillingness to submit, and forced Plaintiff’s head underwater to make Plaintiff perform oral sex upon him. When Plaintiff pulled his head out of the water in order to breathe, Defendant Singer demanded that he continue which Plaintiff refused. Defendant Singer then forced Plaintiff to continue performing oral sex upon him outside of the pool, and subsequently forcibly sodomized Plaintiff.

What's your take on the suit, Instincters?

I thinks its rubbish. but saying that, if that is what it takes to don a uniform an become an xman where do i sign up?? Lol

Why is this a big deal now, 15 years later?  At 17, flying to Hawaii, that boy knew what he was doing.  It really sounds like whatever happened was consentual and someone's got some sour grapes.

Of course if the new X-Men movie sucks, then I blame Singer.

I don't think things like this should be allowed to be reported on until it's gone to trial and the accused is found guilty.  Accusations like this can be extremely damaging if they turn out to be false, and even if you're just reporting it as an accusation then people will read the headline and it will stick in their head and affect their perception of the people involved.  There's been a lot of this kind of thing going on in the UK recently but TV personalities being accused of things, being torn to pieces in the press then being found innocent in court.  Their criminal record is left clean but their reputation is totally ruined forever.

I'm not saying these particular accusations are true or false - I don't know as I don't have all the information and neither does anyone else yet.  I thought you were better than this Instinct.

Well not only did this happen 15 years ago e if it did happen at all it was in Hawaii--The age of consent in Hawaii is 16.

It's true that you don't mess with someone 17 years old, regardless, but it's hard finding proof he did something bad, or if a queen just wants money. There is always some one bad on both spectrum.
Either it's a "legal" prostitute, trying to get money, or its a player trying to get sex, the hard part is finding who is true !

the guy is clearly after money. But its also no secret that Singer is a creep and i know plenty of friends who can attest to that in my time in LA. he likes them young and I've even watched him at Fiesta Cantina , play the "xmen director" card to try to get laid. He's all kinds if gross

It's also not the first time he's been in trouble.. there was the whole apt pupil scandal (he kept underage boys naked on set for the shower seen for an uncomfortable amount of time and was sued for it), he's also no stranger to this sorta thing... from Brandon Routh being dubbed "BJ" by singer and his friends (it's also how he got the role of superman), to "discovering" Daniel Cudmore (Colossus) at a gym... to having a possy of twinky porn stars.. and always taking pics with the male actors on his crew and taking them out for nights on the town, but never the women... (wouldn't shock me if he'd bedded Shawn Ashmore or Nicholas Hout either)

I think its all bullshit. At 17 I knew what I was doing. You can't force someone to get on a plane several times to fly to Hawaii. Too me this sounds like it was a grest time. But since he didn't get anywhere after... now he's mad and wants to put shade on Bryan. Like it was said earlier.... why now and not back when the first movie came out? Bullshit!!

I don't understand why a person of Bryan Singer's professional stature would put himself in a position to be criticized in this way.   Were there not enough men of similar position or standing to have an interlude with in Hawaii?   Taking a young person, struggling to make a career, on an expensive trip is asking for trouble.   People with money and position need to protect their reputation and not place themselves in jeopardy with someone who could likely take advantage of the situation.

Whether Singer is guilty or not, he is certainly short on judgement.

There's plenty of Hollywood Mogul's gay and straight alike that do this all the time.. look at what happened to Corey Feldman and Corey Haim, Feldman claims they were molested upon several occasions....

Hollywood has a very dark history in this... gay and straight alike...

17?? Damn...my parents would ask why am I flying to hawaii that much...I mean if u accept the money and offer..u are just as guilty I think

Bryan is so hot. Why would he need to force anyone into sex? I would volunteer. No need to ask me twice.

I think the same. I wanna go to Hawaii.

unless you're both twinks... i don't think he'd be interested

Bryan is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He would never do anything with anyone who is unwilling. Plus he is hot enough to have groupies. He doesn't need to force anyone to do anything, he has plenty of volunteers. It's sad that anyone would ever accuse him of something like that

Oh sure he sodomized some boy forcibly.LOL cry me a river. These people are sleazy using their money to chase sex. just as sleazy are the camp followers looking for an in.

Bryan Singer is a pig and sexual predator who is always hitting on young boys and strippers and escorts and paying them outrageous amounts of money and flying them to LA for "special trips and treatment" with promises of acting and modeling roles and drugs and money. Just ask anybody whose been to Campus in Montreal.

That behavior, while outlandish and outrageous, still doesn't prove anything.  Personally, I think Singer's a snotty guy but there has to be evidence to seal the deal.

Sounds like total BULLSHIT ... when I was 17 NO ONE had to force me to do anything!!!!

Maybe he's a jilted lover from his past or a one time hook up that wanted more. I do agree though that waiting this long and just before the big movie premiere looks rather fishy. Why wait 15 years?? You could've brought this up duirng the first X-Men movie releases and destroyed him then if this is true.

This is a very valid point.   Why wait so long if the outrage and indignity of the situation was so painful?   At this point, I would think this is water under the bridge, (and way down the river...)

Last desperate effort to gain fame (or at the very least notoriety).. hey if you cant be a star, then star fucker will do! Pathetic

Bryan Singer looks like a baby himself. I'm not getting why the plaintiff waited 15 years to file his complaint, the length of time coupled with the timing undermines the legitimacy of the allegations.

I personally think it's BS. However, it is Hollywood and he was probably promised a role he didn't get or he's taking blackmail to the limit. I hop it's not true.
