Yankees Manager Says MLB Is Ready For Openly Gay Active Player

The MLS has Robbie Rogers, the NBA has Jason Collins and the NFL (likely) has Michael Sam. If New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi has his way, professional baseball will be next in line to welcome its first openly gay active athlete.

"I think our world has adjusted to that," Girardi told reporters Tuesday at Yankees Stadium. Coaches and players just want to win, he said. "Whoever the best players are in that clubhouse, get them in there."

It might not be long before Major League Baseball has its own historic moment; a few collegiate athletes are already blazing the trail
