When Risqué says “Belly up to the Bordeaux Bar” he pictures all his beautiful LUSHES swirling, sniffing and sipping this wonderful Médoc.
With a luring, rich, velvet red color, the scents seduce the nose with pink pepper, sarsaparilla and cassis with further subtle hints of leather, briar fruit and cedar. On the tongue, the taste buds are taken over by violet, cocoa nibs, ripe plum and bright fruit that flow across the palate and eventually fade, leaving a lingering, lightly tannic, wet stone finish. Surprisingly this is not a heavy red wine as the nose would imply.
The Chateau Le Barrail is very French in style and has enough tannin to last another 5-8 years, yet it is definitely drinkable now as a light-medium bodied weight. Risqué recommends that you open for 15 to 30 minutes to let it breathe.
Risqué thinks this wine is FANTASTIC with Rosemary Crusted Lamb, Veal Shank or a Charcuterie of lovely cured meats and artisan cheeses. Nice Bordeaux on a budget.
You better hurry Boys…Risqué’s bottle is almost gone!
