Wine: 2006 Moillard Les Violettes,
Côtes du Rhône, France
Alcohol Content: 13.5%
Price: $18
Pairs Fabulously With: Lamb chops with rosemary plum sauce and roasted asparagus with lemon vinaigrette and diced egg
The promise of sunshine and
warmth and sans couture unceasingly draws Risqué and this time is was Palm Springs. Finding himself a bit parched, like a pig to truffles, he sniffed out a
nearby wine store: A sweet little concept of 100 different wines—all under $25—Vino100 in Cathedral City. While sniffing, Risqué rooted out several lovely little rewards,
and specifically a 2006 Moillard Les Violettes Côtes du Rhône.
A sparkling, rhodolite garnet-colored liquid in the glass has a tantalizing nose of spiced cherries,
pine and pekoe tea. As the light bodied liquid slides silkily
across the tongue, it yields delicious tangy cherry, plum, and black pepper, nutmeg, and cinnamon spice wrapped in supple tannins with a fruity
sweet impression but dry finish of raspberries and nosegays of old fashioned
violets.
Risqué noted: “What a delightful Côtes
du Rhône,” especially at $18.

I think it is a great wine.
I was watching TV and before I knew it the bottle was empty.
I really enjoyed it, nice fruit, easy, well balanced. I even went to buy some more and brought it for a barbecue. People loved it!
