When Scott Evans and I had a discussion over the phone about his cover shoot for Instinct’s December/January issue, he told me that he wasn’t really into fashion and just likes to be comfortable. No worries, I thought, I can work with that. Then he shows up on the morning of the shoot (right on time—even before his publicist) wearing the coolest waxed nylon jacket from Zara and a perfectly beat-up pair of Frye boots. Plus he totally fell in love with the Banana Republic cords that I pulled for him to wear (see last pic below). Not really into fashion, huh?
Scott is as sweet as he is handsome—and he’s also wickedly funny. He kept us all in stitches during the day-long shoot which found us on location in an apartment in Gramercy, on the boardwalk in Coney Island, and on the Manhattan Waterfront Greenway along the East River. He loves reality television—especially The Biggest Loser and Top Chef —and he bonded with the photographer (Vincent Dilio) over a mutual obsession with Stanley Tucci (no, I’m not kidding).
Of course, we talked about his high profile role as Officer Oliver Fish on One Life To Live—but Scott wasn’t one to kiss-and-tell about his romantic scenes with Brett Claywell, his straight co-star (believe me, I asked!). Scott was more forthcoming about a disastrous audition in front of (one of his idols) Sam Mendes for the 2003 Broadway revival of Gypsy starring Bernadette Peters, and he regaled us with stories about playing flag football on Team Gym Sportsbar for the New York Gay Football League.
In honor of Scott’s first appearance in “Style Guyde,” I asked him to fill out a little Instinct questionnaire—keep reading below for his answers…

The first time that I interviewed John Crocco, the Creative Director of Perry Ellis, he told me that his style icons were James Dean in East of Eden (“cool but sensitive”) and Sean Connery as James Bond (“stunningly polished”). John (who is equally as cool and polished) also described “the Perry Ellis man” as someone who is “masculine, confident and soulful.” If you think you fit that description, you should definitely keep reading…
