College Student Gets Help From Gus Kenworthy On Coming Out

Ellen DeGeneres has launched a new web series titled, Fearless, hosted by entrepreneur and body positive activist Ashley Graham.

The digital series, hosted on EllenTube, focuses on helping people struggling with their own confidence issues to rally the courage to rise above, take the next step and become unapologetically fearless.

In this episode, Ashley helps 20-year-old college student John come out to his parents.

John admits he’s come out to his friends but the idea of telling his parents he’s gay has him “freaked out.”

He says that he first became aware of being attracted to boys in 7th grade but it wasn’t until after he graduated high school and a friend asked him point blank if he was gay that he began to accept himself for who he is.

Ashley brings in out Olympian Gus Kenworthy to help John get up the nerve to make the call to his parents.

Kenworthy famously came out on the cover of ESPN Magazine back in 2015. so he knows a bit about the fears that accompany coming out. Since then, he’s become one of the leading voices for LGBTQ representation and authenticity.

Gus shares that coming out for him, while scary and nerve-wracking (he didn’t sleep the night before), was ultimately a very positive experience.

Ashley asks if Gus’s friends wanted to talk about the gay thing after he came out and Gus laughs saying, “There’s a thing that straight people are going to do to you; they’re like, ‘Oh my god, you’re gay? You should meet my friend Jason, he’s gay.’”

And with that, they send John off to make THE call to his parents.

The reaction? Watch the video below to find out. Plus, there's a surprise twist!

At the end of the short video, Gus has these words for those facing their own coming out:

“For anyone who’s watching that’s in the closet and struggling with their identity, their sexuality, I just want to let you know that you are valid, you are seen, you are heard, you are loved. And it can be really scary thinking about taking that step and revealing who you are and being so transparent with the world. But you’re going to be so much happier for it, and you living your life authentically and unapologetically is going to make it that much easier for other people to do the same.”

Follow the digital series Fearless here with new episodes every Wednesday.

Past episodes include trans actress and activist Laverne Cox meeting a transgender man who’s never met another trans person before, and Ashley giving a teacher a lesson on body confidence.

Matt Wilkas Gives Boyfriend Gus Kenworthy a Big Thanksgiving Surprise

Who doesn’t enjoy a feel good gay love story during the holidays?

Gus Kenworthy received quite the surprise on Thanksgiving Thursday courtesy of his longtime (and very cute boyfriend) Matt Wilkas.

The decorated Olympian shared the cute story on his Instagram that came equipped with a photo of them shirtless (or more) in bed and lounging with their pup.

"Matt and I haven't seen each other in a month and a half and because of his work schedule and mine we thought it was going to be a few more weeks until we finally did," Gus wrote. "Last night he flew to New York to surprise me for Thanksgiving. I am thankful for many things in my life: my family, my friends, my health and my community but maybe most of all I am thankful for every morning that I get to wake up next to this sweet man. Happy Thanksgiving everybody - I'm very thankful for you all!"

Matt stayed firm on his claims that the two actually awoke like that."We woke up like this. Swear to god. I didn't do my hair or sexi flex my arm for the show, this is just how we look in the morning."

Gus Kenworthy's Thirst For Celeb's Nude Pics Took Him To The Clouds

We’ve noticed here at Instinct the almost universal thirst folks can have for discovering celebrity nudes on the internet.

Oh yes, we’re all human when it comes to checking out what our favorite stars’ might have to offer.

And the celebs themselves have the thirst as well.

This weekend woofy out Olympian Gus Kenworthy posted a series of pics to his Instagram showing him deep in thought high above the city of Interlaken, Switzerland.

“Me in the cloud searching for @zacefron’s nudes like…” was the caption accompanied by an inquisitive emoji, a smart phone and cloud.

Yes, kids, the thirst is real.

The post (which was Gus’s 1,000th Instagram post, btw) has garnered almost 80,000 likes in a day.

Besides tons of warnings for Gus to get down from the edge of the railing he was sitting on, most fans pleaded with him to share anything he might find.

“Did you find any? Asking for a friend”

“When you find them, forward my way - I won’t tell”

As well as the to-be-expected requests for his own nude pics:

“Plot twist - release your own”

“Are there any of your own up there?”

“I was just searching for yours…”

Gus has posted high-flying pics before when showing off his travels. You’ve got to love a daredevil:

What's the best part about visiting Switzerland? Well, the flag is a big plus!

In addition to the death defying photos, Kenworthy has also shared his obsession over Zac Efron with his social media followers for some time now.

Earlier this year, after reading a news item where a man claimed a prescription drug turned him gay, the freestyle skier tweeted, “*overnights lyrics to @zacefron*.”

And back in June 2017, after reading a report on Efron describing his first time kissing a guy, Gus offered to “volunteer as a tribute.”

Clearly, Gus has great taste when it comes to celeb crushes.

If so - who gets you thirstiest?

Gus Kenworthy Discusses (And Shows) The Last Woman He Ever Slept With

There are plenty of gay men in the world who at some point have been intimate with a woman in their life (we can’t all be gold star/platinum gays) before they came out.

Gus Kenworthy happens to be one of them, as the decorated Olympian didn’t publicly come out of the closet until 2015. He shared a very personal story about the last woman he was ever intimate with on his Instagram that also included their reunion of sorts overseas in Hong Kong this week.

“This is Elliat. Elliat is the last girl I ever slept with when I was still in the closet. I went from a girl with a guy's name to *cue drum roll* a guy! Dim sum one say plot twist?”

He then went on to talk about her life now, where the two of them have clearly moved on from one another. “Anyway, now she lives in Hong Kong with her handsome husband, Amit. They showed me around the city and despite Amit's obvious charm he is absolutely useless at taking photos. Therefore this first pic where I look high af and the second one where I'm out of focus are the best that he was able to do.”

Elliat herself decided to have a little fun of her own in this situation by sharing a pic of them as well but shading him in the process. “I recently took up skateboarding so it was amazing to hang out with my idol @adaripp today.” She’s obviously referring to Gus’ friend and fellow Olympian Adam Rippon. His response? “Genius”.

Gus has quickly become one of the most talked about gay personalities in the sports and entertainment world over the past couple of years. He and boyfriend Matt Wilkas kissed before the qualifying run in the men’s slopestyle at the 2018 Winter Olympics this year, which was broadcast live on television and seen as a significant moment in visibility of LGBT athletes.

Gay Marine's Election Night Victory Gets Gus Kenworthy's Attention

From the look of things, Instinct readers were really happy to read about woofy former Marine Neil Rafferty’s big win Tuesday night as he came out on top in the race for the District 54 seat in Alabama’s state House.

In what can only be described as a landslide victory, Rafferty garnered a huge 90% of the vote in his bid to replace retiring state Rep. Patricia Todd, the state’s first openly gay legislator.

News of Rafferty’s triumph caught the attention of folks all over the interwebs, including that of a certain out Olympic skier.

Responding to a tweet celebrating Rafferty winning the seat, hunky Olympic silver medalist Gus Kenworthy offered this invitation: “I have another seat for him.”

He followed that with a blond, bearded emoji face.

The Twitterverse, of course, responded. Here's just a sample of reactions:

No word on whether Rafferty plans on responding to the invitation.

Gus Kenworthy Wins Halloween With Awesome "Adam Rippoff" Costume

Out Olympians Adam Rippon and Gus Kenworthy have been entertaining their fans with their awesome bromance since the beginning of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Since then, the dynamic duo have exchanged lots of clever and sly repartee in interviews and photo shoots, all to our delight.

This past weekend, though, Kenworthy took things to a new level as he debuted his Halloween costume which he labeled, “Adam Rippoff,” riffing on Rippon’s now-famous Academy Awards outfit complete with leather harness.

In concocting the photo, you may notice Kenworthy also replaced the Oscar statue in the background for something a bit more comical for effect.

Rippon, never at a loss for a quick retort, replied in his own inimitable manner tweeting, “We finally did each other [eggplant]”

Kenworthy continued the exchange with his own “admission” that he’s “wanted to do” Rippon since they met:

Rippon, forever comfortable with a quip, replied with a simple, “Feels right:”

All kinds of awesomeness. Boys, please don't ever stop being you.

Gus Kenworthy's Disappointed That More Athletes Haven't Come Out

Openly gay Olympian Gus Kenworthy says he wishes more athletes would come out of the closet.

While talking to Variety, Kenworthy shared his thoughts on closeted athletes in the world of professional sports.

Kenworthy talked about this topic to honor the nearly three-year anniversary of his coming out through an ESPN article back in 2015.

“I feel like most of my fears were unnecessary, and I think that tends to be the case with people who are in the closet,” Kenworthy told Variety. “I was scared because our whole income was based on sponsorships, and you get sponsors based off your image. I thought there wasn’t a place for a gay guy in my sport. There had never been one before me. I came out, and it was the opposite of what I expected. I was the most endorsed athlete at the Olympics, which was kind of insane to me.”

Kenworthy then noted how coming out ended up helping him professionally more than he ever imagined it would.

“When brands are trying to figure out which athletes to endorse, they’re like, ‘Who’s got a good story?’ They didn’t want a ton of straight white athletes who are normally the face of the Winter Olympics. Adam and I were the only two gay men. I walked into that ceremony holding his hand, knowing we were competing for the community.”

Knowing what he knows now, Kenworthy shares that he’s disappointed, though understanding, that more athletes haven’t come out by now.

“I really thought I was going to come out in ESPN and then suddenly other people would too, other skiers and snowboarders. I really thought it was going to happen, and it hasn’t. It’s not easy, and it doesn’t seem to be getting easier. But I do think that more athletes need to come out, and athletes need to recognize that they have a responsibility to come out. It’s only going to do good to have more representation and visibility.”

While we are on Kenworthy’s side of wanting more athletes to come out soon, we also have to remember, especially on National Coming Out Day, that the coming out process is an individual’s right and responsibility. Otherwise, you’ll have the negative effects of being outed like with Orange Is The New Black star Samira Wiley.

But, we look forward to the day when societal pressure won’t get in the way of actors coming out easily. We’ll be waiting in the wings with Kenworthy for that day.

Gus Kenworthy's Tribute to His Late Pup Beemo is Absolutely Heart-Wrenching

It's been a rough couple of months for Gus Kenworthy, as he tragically lost his rescue pup Beemo unexpectedly back in May from a birth defect. The decorated Olympian adopted her overseas in South Korea while he was competing in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

The 26-year-old has adopted another dog since, but the memory of Beemo continues to live on in his and millions of his fan's hearts. He posted a sweet tribute to her on his Instagram that coincided with a beautiful gift that one of his friends gave him as an early birthday present (he turns 27 on October 1st).

"I can't believe that it's been almost four months since my baby Beemo passed away. I think about her every single day," he said.

"My good friend @goodiepocket gave me the sweetest early birthday gift and he edited together a tribute video for Beemo from the hundreds of videos on my phone. I know a lot of you, whether you met her or not, loved Beemo very much and so I wanted to share the video with you all."

The 6-minute clip, called "Our Borrowed Time with Beemo," shows Gus and his longtime boyfriend Matt Wilkas' journey with their adorable pup that began with the moment they adopted her. It then transitions into all the cute moments they had with her that ends on a truly heartbreaking note.

Gus Kenworthy Adopted A New Dog And Named It In Memory Of His Late Puppy Beemo

Gus Kenworthy is a daddy yet again.

The US Olympian and openly gay athlete was devastated back in May when his puppy named Beemo, whom he had adopted after discovering her in South Korea, died of a birth defect.

While Beemo will always have a special place in Kenworthy's, and boyfriend Matt Wilkas’s, heart and no dog will ever replace her, Kenworthy has shares that he has healed enough to move on.

The athlete posted on Instagram that he has decided to adopt a new rescue dog named Birdie.

Kenworthy started off the post by recounting how he rescued Beemo from a dog meat farm. Coincidentally, he also witnessed the birth of a new litter on that same day. It turns out that Kenworthy stayed up-to-date on litter after Beemo’s death and later decided to adopt one of them.

“I began getting photo and video updates on them as I waited for another farm closure and an opportunity for them to be brought to the States. That finally happened and four days ago I picked this little girl up in DC. She's a 5-month-old Jindo/ Lab mix and we named her Birdie (because birds were one of Beemo's favorite things in the world).”

The day Matt and I visited the horrifying dog meat farm in South Korea we witnessed a mother dog giving birth to a litter of pups. The people at @hsiglobal told us that had they not been there filming my visit nobody would've seen the pups immediately and they likely would've died in the brutal cold. Luckily though I saw them and they were rushed inside and saved. A few weeks later when all 90 of the dogs on that farm (including Beemo) were flown to North America that mother and her newborn litter were the only ones that stayed behind because the pups were too young to travel. After Beemo passed away I was feeling completely empty and I reached back out to the Humane Society International to find out what happened to that litter. I found out that they were still in Korea and I began getting photo and video updates on them as I waited for another farm closure and an opportunity for them to be brought to the States. That finally happened and four days ago I picked this little girl up in DC. She's a 5-month-old Jindo/ Lab mix and we named her Birdie (because birds were one of Beemo's favorite things in the world). Nothing in the world could ever replace Beemo or the love that we felt and still feel for her but Birdie has already stolen a new place in our hearts and we're excited to be dog dads again. A HUGE thank you goes out to @hsiglobal for bringing our new baby home and for all they do for animals in need around the world (follow them and support their cause). Also an immense amount of gratitude goes to @awlaarlington for taking care of Birdie in DC until I could fly there to pick her up! I am going to continue Beemo's Instagram with pupdates on Birdie. I was nervous that would seem disrespectful to Beemo's memory but I actually LOVE the idea that both of my beautiful little girls will share the page. Also, a huge part of the reason I started Beemo's page in the first place was to continue promoting animal rescue and raise awareness for the dog meat trade and since the page already has a following I thought it'd be more impactful to keep it going rather than start all over again. Follow along! @b_pups #DogsAreFriendsNotFood #AdoptDontShop

Kenworthy also shared that he plans to continue capturing the life of his pup through the same Instagram account that he used for Beemo.

“I am going to continue Beemo's Instagram with pupdates on Birdie. I was nervous that would seem disrespectful to Beemo's memory but I actually LOVE the idea that both of my beautiful little girls will share the page.”

Congratulations to the happy family. We hope the happiness continues for many years to come.

Yum: Gus Kenworthy's 5 Hottest Instagram Pics

Gus Kenworthy has become one of our most favorite gay celebrities for many different reasons.

He's a decorated athlete, a hero to many, and has broke ground in our community several times like when he shared a historic kiss with his boyfriend Matt Wilkas.

Oh, and one other thing: he's fine. Like... really really fine (I've met him in person and can easily vouch for this). And his Instagram (which just passed one million likes recently) prove this thought point and then some.

That being said, let's take a look at what we think are his five hottest Instagram uploads of all time. A great way to end what was more than likely a very drab Monday.
