We wrote yesterday about the interesting dialog on gender and sexuality that the short film/music video for "Hurricane" from 30 Seconds to Mars might ignite; today the video premieres, and all we can think about is how freakin' hot Jared Leto is thanks to a bevy of shirtless scenes. Ahh, art.

Generalizations suck, but aside from the appeal of the oft-shirtless Jared Leto, one would be hard pressed to find a legion of gay 30 Seconds To Mars fans. (For the record, the author of this post is a fan. A lonely fan.) What can be intuitively drawn from that broad generalization is that the majority of the hard alt-rock group's fan base consists of the straights. But a new long-format music video/short film might change that. It reeks of 1990s shock-value acts like Tool and Marilyn Manson, but in a post-metrosexual, post-Boy-Band world, is 30 Seconds To Mars pushing the envelope of sexuality too far for its fanbase with the video for "Hurricane"? Or is its exploration of gender going to start a dialog among youth who are already more comfortable...
