We reported back in May on House Rep. Todd Akin's sponsorship of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would ban military bases from hosting marriages or "marriage-like ceremonies" between same-sex couples. The amendment passed in the Republican controlled House, but failed in the Senate.
Now Akin, who's on his way out of Congress after torpedoing his election campaign with his infamous "legitimate rape" comments is pushing to have discriminatory, anti-gay language pushed into the military defense budget.
