The momentum holds steady with the Question 1 officially passing in Maine (as all major outlets have called it). Question 1 reverses a 2009 referendum to legalize same sex marriage in the state, allowing Maine to earn its place in history as one of the first states to approve equality at the ballot box!

Send a round of applause to Maryland which has sealed the deal to join Maine as one of the first states to approve marriage equality by way of a popular vote. NBC News has joined Politico and the Washington Post to call Question 6 a winner in the state.
According to NBC News, Marylanders have approved Question 6 which would make the state law granting same sex couples marriage rights official!
Congratulations, Marylanders!

An amendment, proposed by Republican House Rep. Steve King (Iowa), that would ban same-sex marriage on military bases and prohibit military chaplains from performing same-sex marriage ceremonies passed with a vote of 247-166.

Oh, and in case you thought otherwise, Straight Pride organizers say their proposed holiday is in no way meant to disrespect the gay community.
