To research an article I was working on earlier in the week, I turned to my favorite polling place: Facebook, or FacePlace, according to Maggie Griffin. With one simple question posed to my diverse accumulation of friends, I asked: “What items might gays leave behind at the gay beach?”
The response was fast and healthy, with many one-liners and hilarious punch lines submitted. But then the tone changed.
An FB friend (written in the loosest sense of the word as we’re merely acquaintances) responded with “the same things straight people leave.” The tone, though ambiguous over text alone, felt critical, and leads me to this weekend’s open-end discussion.
