While we wait for the ruling in the Prop. 8 trial, it seems as if ground efforts to put a repeal question on the 2010 ballot are not going so well. San Francisco’s Bay Area Reporter had a talk with John Henning, the executive director of Love Honor Cherish, which is working to gather signatures for the repeal, and he reported that the group is not meeting its goals.
Though he wouldn’t say exactly how many people have signed on for the repeal, Henning did say the group’s daily goal is 7, 000 signatures. There must be 694,354 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot, due April 12. The group may have to turn to paid signature gatherers to help meet the deadline, but another problem then arises as, aside from being under staffed ...
