With five consecutive federal court losses to their credit in DOMA cases, we're really curious as to why House Republicans, who control the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group, continue to spend taxpayer money on legislation that appears to be both on its way out and unconstitutional.

Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley has filed an official request with the US Supreme Court asking them to uphold a recent appeals court decision striking down parts of the Defense of Marriage Act that defines marriage solely as the union of a man and a woman.

Judge Bryant bitchslapped the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group (BLAG), by denying their motion to stay the proceedings in the case of Pedersen v. Office of Personnel Management.

This case challenges the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and is now pending.The plaintiffs in this case are represented by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) they strongly opposed BLAG's motion to stay.

Is the Supreme Court about to review the Defense of Marriage Act?

Metro Weekly reports that the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group, led by Republican House members, mailed in its petition today to the Supreme Court following the May 31 ruling by the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit that found DOMA's federal definition of marriage to be unconstitutional.
