Earlier this month we brought you the story of Father Tom Donovan, who had to have police help him out of a mouth gag and handcuffs. Today, Bishop Paprocki, who is currently at war with marriage equality efforts in Illinois, released a statement about the incident.

It's not exactly news that many religious leaders aren't thrilled about the prospect of same-sex marriage.
It is, however, a little surprising to hear a Catholic leader in the United States go so far as to say that that Catholic individuals that support same-sex marriage should "refrain from receiving Holy Communion."
Basically, you don't have to participate in a same-sex marriage to be ostracized. If you happen to simply not be a bigot, then you should have to stop participating in one of the key traditions of your religious faith.
