The gay blogosphere is a-buzz today with fear that if the compromised DADT repeal bill doesn’t get some action in the Senate before midterms, it could be a year or more until any movement is seen.

The timing couldn’t be any better then for HRC’s national call-in day, announced this morning in an effort to finally get discrimination off the military’s books.

“We've had to fight to the end for every victory we've won, and this is no different,” added HRC’s Joe Solmonese. “If we don't speak up now, our window for repeal could close.”

The Details:

HRC will launch a full national action alert tomorrow encouraging members and supporters to contact their Senators immediately and ask that they push for repeal of “Don’t Ask,...

Listen up, Iowan Instincters! This is what your courageous and ground-breaking openly gay State Senator Matt McCoy (one of Instinct’s 2009 Leading Men) is facing in the upcoming elections: a horrendously bigoted beyond religious right fellow by the name of David Leach (an anti-abortionist connected to the recent assasination of Dr. George Tiller).

In a recent email exchange, Leach basically said that AIDS is God’s punishment for homosezzuals.

Here’s the vile transcript:

"Everyone knows sodomites suffer [HIV/AIDS] far more than the rest of the population, and that sodomy's practices, which are so embarrassingly unsanitary that you dare not detail them in one of your articles, would inevitably create such a disease if it did not already...

For the second year in a row, the American "Family" Association is attempting a massive boycott of Home Depot for the company's support of Pride. This year, it's because Home Depot supported a kids workshop at a Pride event over the weekend in Maine. AFA resorts to stale tactics and misinformation to scare its putty of followers into boycotting the company, which has a 85% rating on the HRC's 2010 Corporate Equality Index.

From the AFA:

To this end, Home Depot is basically encouraging the attendance of children at events which openly expose them to transvestites, cross-dressers, and homosexual activists. Unfortunately, Home Depot's participation in the Southern Maine Pride Festival doesn't stand alone. It has also sponsored and participated...

Update:

Rick has issued a statement to say that the intense homophobia he spewed on national airwaves via his XM show was due to his "Biblical world view." He didn't mean to offend any of us sissies or anything. The Facebook page for boycotting advertisers of the Rick & Bubba show can still be found below.

You probably aren't familiar with the popular Rick & Bubba radio and XM show (because you have taste), but, unfortunately, many people are. The self-appointed "two sexiest fat men alive" took to their bullhorns yesterday to publicly humiliate the GLBT community and President Obama for June Pride month. Here's a clip:

We all know hate, intolerance and low-brow potty-humor spreads like an epidemic, so this kind ...

Judging from the popularity the hordes of pro-marriage equality Prop 8 Facebook groups experience, equality organizations Equal Roots Coalition and FAIR believe they can easily raise $1 million to help the Proposition 8 repeal efforts using the popular site.

To accomplish this, the partnership has launched the new FB group, I Bet I Can Find 1,000,000 People With $1 for LGBT Equality, which directs fans to a separate site to pony up some easy change. If a million Facebook fans can get Betty White on SNL, perhaps the two org’s lofty goal isn’t so lofty…

How about skipping the iced tea at lunch today and instead giving that for equality?

The gay blogosphere is grouping together today for a blog swarm in the efforts of drawing attention to Speaker Nancy Pelosi's ability to pass an Employment Non Discrimination Act (ENDA) for GLBT Americans. Never ones to turn down gay group action, us Instinct boys hope you might want to help out as well!

"If we can get ENDA enacted and signed into law, it is only a matter of time before all the rest happens," the Obama Administration's Personal Management Director John Berry said. "It is the keystone that holds up the whole bunch, and so we need to focus our energies and attention there."

Please call Speaker Pelosi's office at (202) 225-4965 to demand that HR 3017 -- ENDA -- be brought to a vote in the House. As other blogs instituting ...

Updated Thursday:

The SF LGBT Center has issued a press release rebuking yesterday's piece in the SF Chronicle that claimed it had asked the city for a $1M bailout.

From the release:

We do have $3.2 million in outstanding debt related to the construction of the building, which has been carried in a loan with First Republic Bank. After almost a year of very difficult bargaining, we have achieved a loan modification that financially benefits the Center. This includes a reduction our interest rate, which will save $200,000 over the next five years, and a modification of principle payments to help cash flow. The bank is requiring that we create a reserve account, with a balance of $157,500 – reserves which we do not have. The City have been...

The Washington Post's Ombudsman Andrew Alexander has confirmed that 27 red necks have cancelled their subscriptions to the paper, specifically citing a front-page photo of a gay couple kissing in their reasoning.

The photo, used alongside an article commemorating the first day of the District's historic marriage equality, had sparked controversy and garnered more complaints than typical for the publication.

Alexander highlights one "concerned" (another word for homophobic) reader's email:

Ann Witty of Woodbridge wrote to say she had canceled the Post subscription she has held since the 1960s.

“I am 65 years old and I realize that the world is changing rapidly – much more rapidly than I would like it to,” she e-mailed. “While I...

It is still perfectly legal to fire someone for being gay or transgender in 31 states, which is exactly why a full-scope federal Employment Non Discrimination Act update for GLBT employees is vastly overdue. To highlight the many reasons why ENDA is vital to the well-being of America, PFLAG and the Bilerico Project are joining forces to help send those who've lost their jobs under discrimination to DC to tell their stories on ENDA Lobby Day. And you can help!

Visit the Bilerico Project's website for more information on how to donate or join the lobby day, scheduled for March 16.
