We’d hoped progress was being made in Anoka, Minnesota, the site of a rash of suicides among gay youth, but a move on the part of the Anoka Halloween Festival Committee definitely isn’t sending  a message of inclusion.

The festival committee has denied a request to allow Justin’s Gift, an anti-bullying youth group formed in memory of Justin Aaberg (a teen who took his own life), to march in the group’s popular parade on Oct. 27. The festival committee has also refused to answer community questions regarding its decision to deny Justin’s Gift members a spot in the parade.

Rebecca Krone, an Anoka mom, is leading a campaign on Change.org to allow Justin’s Gift to participate.

Updated Friday, 2:00 p.m. PST

Ellen DeGeneres made good on her promise to host Ryan Andresen, the teen that was dismissed from the Boy Scouts after completing Eagle Scout requirements once it was revealed that he was gay.

While Ellen couldn't give Andresen the Eagle Scout award that he'd rightfully earned, she gave him something else that will positively impact his future.

The civil rights movement for marriage equality is often accused of wanting to change the definition of marriage. That's blatant hyperbole, but Mike Raven's new Change.org petition asking Dictionary.com to make its definition of marriage more gay friendly actually provides a legitimate instance of just that.

The Weinstein Company  (TWC) just gave the finger to the MPAA and we’re all about it! (Not that demure, classy gays like ourselves would ever dream of…yeah.)

By now you’ve all heard about the documentary Bully, which has garnered support from the likes of Ellen DeGeneres and both anti-bullying and LGBT advocates.

After months of haggling with the MPAA and an aggressive campaign that included a Change.org petition (helmed by former bullying victim Katy Butler) that was signed by nearly 500,000 people urging the MPAA to lower the documentary’s R-rating and allow the film to be shown in schools, the Weinstein Company has decided to release the film unrated.
