Instead—according to its just-released 2012 platform—the Texas Republican Party is partying like its 1959 and has laid the foundation for an all-out war on civil rights. 

Australian Salvation Army Major Andrew Craibe repeatedly called for the death of gays on a radio show last week in a homophobic rant that used the Bible as its justification. Today, the country's arm of the Salvation Army is distancing itself from Craibe's comments with an apologetic statement.

The controversial remarks attributed to Donna Summer in 1983 (which she denied the rest of her life) when she allegedly called AIDS god's punishment to the gay community haunted the rest of her career. Infamous gay organization ACT-UP began demonstrating against the singer in 1987 based on the rumored remarks and soon after received a letter expressing denial and regret. The organization published a few quotes from the letter decades ago, but today, POZ's Peter Staley (a former ACT-UP member) released the full telling letter. Check it out after the jump.

Inspiring us to throw our hands over our heads instead of our ankles for once, a recent sermon by the Rev. Frederick D. Haynes of the Friendship-West Baptist Church takes his congregation, fellow pastors and larger Christian community to task for criticizing President Obama's marriage equality evolution.

Radio host Caiden Cowger is 14-years old and already waging a right-wing sponsored anti-gay war against President Obama (and the American gay community). During a recent radio show that had Caiden declaring "homosexuality is a choice," the young homophobe went on to give anti-gay bloggers soundbite gold by claiming that President Obama is "making kids gay."

In early May we reported that the Methodist Church had disappointingly voted to uphold its view that homosexuality "is incompatible with Christian teaching." A month later, hundreds of ministers and lay persons within the Church have decided to reject last month's vote and sign on to a pro-LGBT statement. Details follow. 

San Diego's Missiongathering Christian Church has erected a billboard on the Billy Graham Parkway just outside Charlotte to apologize to the LGBT community for the campaign and passage of Amendment One.
