The New Mexico high school Jesse Tyler Ferguson attended gained national attention last week when it was brought to light that school officials were forcing a transgender male student, Damien Garcia, to wear a female graduation gown during the school's commencement ceremony.

The Modern Family star became aware of the story and has reached out to St. Pius High School directly on Damien's behalf.

See what he has to say after the jump.

Here's a project we can get behind and we hope you will too!

In the wake of 2009's documentary Outrage, which shined a light on closeted politicians actively legislating against the LGBT community, a new fictionalized film traces a similar story.

A Queen Without His Crown, written and directed by award winning filmmaker Carmen Palaez, targets those politicians that are "holding equality hostage in their closets."

As Republicans convene this week to assess their party's arguably failing platform, social conservatives are threatening to jump ship if the party takes any steps in the direction towards equality.

Thirteen influential wingnuts (joined, of course, by hate group leader Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council) penned a letter to the Republican National Committee telling them to affirm the party's 2012 platform, which supported a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and supported the Defense of Marriage Act, or face abandonment by their socially conservative base.

As with celebrities in the past decade, politicians, too, have quietly changed the way they come out (for marriage equality). Politico gets an inside look at the "gay marriage backer's playbook" in a piece today that nicely sums up the past month of falling dominoes.

It appears members of the Supreme Court aren't above stating outright lies.

Justice Antonin Scalia made the comment during Tuesday's Prop. 8 hearing that “there’s considerable disagreement among sociologists as to what the consequences of raising a child in a single-sex family, whether that is harmful to the child or not.”

Only that's not true. And considering he had an amicus brief submitted by the American Sociological Association (ASA) on that specific subject, he should have known better.

Colorado took another step towards legalizing civil unions on Thursday as Senate Bill 11 passed in the House Judiciary Committee.

While the 8-3 vote was pretty lopsided in favor of the bill's passage, it's notable that the breakdown included seven Democrats and one Republican.

Republican Rep. Carole Murray broke with her party in support of civil unions legislation and explains her emotional decision after the jump.

Remember yesterday's big news that Tim Tebow canceled his appearance at the controversial First Baptist of Dallas for unamed reaons other than "new evidence" coming to his attention?

Well, hate group leader Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association looks past all the anti-Christian actions of First Baptist Pastor Robert Jeffress—anti-semiticsm, Islamaphobia, "Satan runs the Catholic Church, to name a few—to criticize Tebow for "caving into Big Gay" (which sounds like a South Park character).

The Associated Press Stylebook—basically the journalist's Bible—has implemented a few controversial LGBT-specific "clarifications" in the past five months that have left many in the community appalled. The latest update to its guidelines suggesting that journalists refrain from using "husband" and "wife" when referring to married same-sex couples has spurred at least one couple in California into action.

Well this is just silly. Who appreciates a foot-long more than the gays?!

A Subway franchise owner in Angers, France had the brilliant idea to serve his Valentine's Day special with a side of bigotry, stating that his two meal was only for heterosexual couples!

It turns out that didn't work out so well.
