Until now. DC Comics brings the first ongoing transgender character to the mainstream in Batgirl #19, when Barbara Gordon's roommate Alysia Yeoh comes out as a transgender female.

Turns out, the answer to the headline is no, at least not in this case.
After Apple was blamed today for refusing to sell the 12th issue of the graphic novel Saga, David Steinberger, CEO of the comic book app Comixology, has said his company is responsible for the kerfuffle.

We know what we're adding to our reading list! Well...what we'd be adding to our reading list if we were teens...
Nope. We totally don't spend our time reading Young Adult (YA) novels. Not at all obsessed with The Hunger Games.
Anyway.
Kevin Keller, the Archie comics' first openly gay character, is getting his own hardcover novel and it's taking Kevin back to his middle school years!
Details after the jump!

The reactionaries at "One Million" Moms were right on cue today in their condemnation of DC Comics for bringing the Green Lantern out of the closet. Also right on cue? GLAAD's adroit bitch slapping of the American Family Association subgroup.

Yes, we're happy that DC Comic's Alan Scott (a.k.a. the original Green Lantern) will be coming out of the closet. That said, we'd have been even more enthused if Ryan Reynolds' film incarnation, Hal Jordan, was suddenly going to be playing for our team. (That's a sequel we'd green-light!)
Still, we're easing the pain with laughter.
Jimmy Kimmel gave his own take on which high-profile DC Comics character (or in this case characters) should come out with a little help from Project Runway.
