Thirteen major companies have come together in support of the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act. 

The Business Coalition for DOMA Repeal, formed by the Human Rights Campaign, includes six Fortune 500 companies.

The Human Rights Campaign has released its annual Corporate Equality Index to rank the LGBT-friendliness of the business landscape as we prepare to head into 2013. The latest report reveals plenty to cheer about (including a record number of companies that boast top scores) and where the corporate world could use some improvement. The National Organization for Marriage is sick and tired of corporation after corporation choosing the right side of history by supporting marriage equality. So, the hate group's has directed its Ruth Institute to put REI on blast by saying—get this—that by announcing its support for marriage equality the gay friendly company has come out against biological parenthood.

Dizzy from all that spin? We are too. 

With laws varying state to state regarding the rights of LGBT Americans, particularly with regards to their finances in the case of marriage and domestic partnerships, financial firms are actively working to create LGBT-friendly initiatives that make financial planning more manageable.

ExxonMobil won't be jumping to the top of the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index (CEI) anytime soon; moments ago, shareholders once again voted against adding LGBT employment protections to the company's nondiscrimination policy. Details follow. 

The business world has apparently hit a significant milestone: for the first time in its history, each of the top 100 companies included on Forbes Magazine's annual list provide non-discrimination protections for gay and lesbian employees. 

Sure, the new Renault Twingo car is rather homosexual (gay cars do exist, after all), but I'm not sure many image-obsessed gay couples would select the robin egg color. That oversight aside, Renault's latest ad embracing a same-sex wedding is certainly worthy of applause. Watch, after the jump. 

Arriving in the St. Nick of time to ensure that holiday shopping dollars from the gAyTM are spent at LGBT-supportive companies is the HRC's 2012 Corporate Equality Index. So, which corporations have earned our patronage?

In the first move of Media Matters' DropFox campaign, a coalition of LGBT groups including Courage Campaign, GLAAD and Equality Matters have asked online-travel site Orbitz to stop advertising on the Fox News channel. 

She may be known for outfits and chart-toppers, but Lady Gaga is also known for taking checks to shill for products (the video for "Telephone" immediately comes to Mary mind). Though the list of corporate sponsorships Lady Gaga cleverly product places in photos, videos and performances is long, L.A. Weekly has reported that some of the companies she promotes are not friends of the LGBT community. Math isn't my strong suit (Prada is!), but this doesn't exactly add up.
