Updated Tuesday, 1 p.m. PST:
Regarding comments made by the Pope that became public yesterday regarding condom use, the Vatican has further qualified the ideas surrounding the church's approval of condom use, today saying that condoms are the lesser of two evils when used to combat the spread of AIDS, even if said condom use does prevent pregnancy.
The Vatican still holds that condom use is immoral and that church doctrine forbidding birth control remains. Still, many religious experts say the reassessment on condom use carries profound significance, particularly in Africa where AIDS is rampant.

The industry maintains that safeguards are already in place, including mandatory monthly HIV tests before actors are cleared for filming.
However, the AIDS Healthcare Foundation maintains that the current policies are not effective, particularly after the 2004 HIV outbreak within the porn industry that brought filming to a halt for a month. Last year, the L.A. Department of Public Health reported that 22 adult film stars tested positive—though no distinction was made between straight or gay porn.
The advisory board meeting on the subject has... FULL STORY

BB adult films may not be welcome in California much longer. If a new initiative filed by the California AIDS Healthcare Foundation amends state law, all porn actors working in the state will be required to wear condoms during production.
Michael Weinstein, President of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, said, “Although workers in adult films should enjoy protections under the current phrasing of the regulation, the adult film industry has steadfastly refused to take any steps to protect its workers from diseases spread by blood-borne pathogens, resulting in thousands of employees becoming infected with sexually transmitted diseases."
What do you think about the initiative?
