President Obama couldn't attend Creating Change 2013, the country's largest gathering of LGBT rights advocates, himself, but that didn't stop him from sending a message of support via a recorded message. Check out what the president has to say to the attendees of #CC13 after the break.

Moments ago we learned that the Supreme Court took no action today on the handful of marriage equality cases begging for its attention. We could have news on the conference as early as Monday, with most SCOTUS analysts believing Friday, December 7 is the best chance for the Court to take action. 

According to SCOTUSblog's Lyle Denniston, the Court did make two interesting announcements after today's conference:  "It did agree to rule on whether taking a human gene out of the body is a process that can be patented.  It also agreed to rule on legal protection for makers of generic drugs."

Could Illinois be the next state to pass marriage equality?

If Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has anything to do with it, it will be!

Mayor Emanuel gave a press conference today on his legislative priorities and legalizing same-sex marriage in the state is right at the top. 

Emanuel says, "The time is now."

On the high heels of the Log Cabin Republicans endorsement of Mitt Romney last week arrived a report from the Boston Globe revealing the presidential candidates animus toward gay parents from his time as governor of Massachusetts. Today we get a vitriolic video that backs up the Globe's shocking claims. 

Baltimore Raven Matt Birk (a Minnesota native) continues his campaign to become the NFL's face of bigotry as the new spokesman in the fight against marriage equality in Minnesota.  

Exciting news! John A. Pérez (D-Los Angeles), the openly gay Speaker of the California State Assembly has been elected to the role of President of the National Speakers Conference (NSC)! He'll be the first openly gay official in the role.

Lots of headline-grabbing news has exploded out of the 2012 International AIDS Conference this week, but nothing quite like Thursday afternoon's announcement that two more men may have been cured of HIV. It's been a steadily good month for applause-worthy headlines out of the HIV/AIDS arena. Wednesday's session of the 2012 International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C. kept that going as American doctors revealed new hope for a cure. 

In sobering contrast to Monday's opening optimism from Sec. Hillary Clinton, a panel of experts presented a bleak warning: the end of AIDS in America is nothing but a dream unless financial roadblocks are removed.
