It's been a whirlwind of a month for John Paulk, the former founder and leader of Love Won Out, an "ex gay" and conversion therapy group created by hate group Focus on the Family. After coming out as still in fact gay gay gay, Paulk has decided to denounce the movement he once championed and to apologize to the LGBT community.

New Jersey's Senate health committee approved a bill that will ban ex-gay "conversion therapy."  Similar legislation previously passed in California (the CA law is being reviewed by the Ninth Circuit Federal Court of Appeals).

We're not sure that the public faces of Exodus International meant their 2012 blooper reel to be hilarious in the ironic way that it actually is, but at least it gets us laughing. California's ex-gay therapy ban has hit a road block. The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has blocked the law that bans ex-gay therapy for minors and was scheduled to go into effect in January 2013.

Dr. Oz is inviting controversy today as his daytime talk show explores "ex gay" therapy. Activist and blogger Jeremy Hooper, a distinguished member of Instinct's 2012 crop of Leading Men, takes issue with Dr. Oz even discussing the discredited topic on national television to begin with. 

So, what does Jeremy have to say to Dr. Oz?

It's a quack attack! We've used so-called twice in a headline because we've deemed it more than necessary. These quacks told us they were ready to get their "sue" on. And now the so-called (there's that word again) ex-gay therapists are taking their battle to court. Seems like it'd be more suited for Judge Judy (no offense, Judes!), but this is laughable.

The California State Assembly has followed the State Senate's lead and passed a historic ban on "conversion therapy" for minors. Details follow. 

We're practically scratching the freshly applied highlights right off our new Grecian boy soldier-inspired haircut over this one, kids: Exodus International, perhaps the world's most notorious "ex gay" group often at odds with the LGBT community, has issued a very gay-positive statement. 

A new poll from CNN/ORC provides great news (the highest majority of Americans yet are in favor of marriage equality) before reminding us we still have plenty of work ahead (a large majority still believes that gays can turn straight). The bittersweet details follow.

The California State Senate has approved SB 1172, which will prohibit mental health providers in California from providing “ex-gay" reparative/conversion therapy to minors. It will also prevent them from administering the therapy to adults without expressed consent.
