While we generally spend our time fantasizing about olive-skinned toned Greek gods feeding us grape leaves, we were rudely snapped back to reality when we heard that blasphemy charges had been filed in Greece against the team behind a production of Terrence McNally's "Corpus Christi."
The play depicts Jesus Christ and his disciples as gay, and apparently many conservative members of Greek society are taking issue with it.
More after the jump.

A federal law requires that any school receiving federal funds must allow equal extracurricular opportunities for all students, so a sneaky Corpus Christi, Texas school district has devised a way to continue receiving government money while exhibiting blatant homophobia. Terrence McNally's controversial play "Corpus Christi" is set to take the stage in ultra-conservative Red Orange County.
The play presents Jesus as a gay man living in Corpus Christi, Texas in the 1950s, subject matter that saw its 1998 opening in Manhattan peppered with bomb threats. But OC's Church of the Foothills believes it poses an important question for Christians to ponder.
"We're not at all saying this is what we think Jesus was, or this is what we believe. We're just asking the question, 'Why not?'" says the play's producer James Brandon.
"Corpus Christi" will be performed 7 pm Saturday at The Church of the Foothills. Box office: 714-731-8320
How do you think Orange County will react to the play?
