Former Prop.8 proponent and key trial witness David Blankenhorn came out in support of the marriage equality movement in a big way this past June when he wrote a New York Times opinion editorial detailing his evolution on the issue. 

He's now speaking out in opposition to Minnesota's proposed constitutional amemdment that would ban same-sex marriage. 

It's pretty remarkable to see this man's transition from being a staunch opponent to becoming a true advocate for the marriage equality cause. See what he has to say to Minnesotans in this short clip after the jump!

David Blankenhorn of the Institute for American Values was supposed to be the "star witness" of the homophobes defending Proposition 8 before Judge Vaughn Walker a couple years back. But Blankenhorn's testimony didn't exactly end up being as bigoted as Team Prop 8 had hoped (he famously said that it would be in the best interest of children of same-sex couples to allow their parents to marry).

Now, after again confusing his fellow conservatives for opposing North Carolina's disgusting Amendment One, Blankenhorn has officially come out in full force for marriage equality rights.

It's been a confusing Wednesday morning so far. First, NOM comes out in favor of marriage equality. Now, David Blankenhorn, a major Prop 8 witness and backer, has come out against North Carolina's evil Amendment One (which goes up for a vote on May 8).

The expected final day of the Prop. 8 trial got off to a much calmer start than yesterday, as David Blankenhorn was back on the stand for his continued cross-exam by plaintiffs’ attorney David Boies. Boies spent a good amount of time asking Blackenhorn about his prior writings, some of which actually seem to place same-sex marriage in a favorable light.

“I’m going to start with some things we agree on. You agree that marriage is a public good,” asked Boies.

“Yes.”

“What is a public good?”

“Benefits society...
