They were understandably mum when asked how they think the Supreme Court will rule on Prop 8, but AFER's superstar attorneys Ted Olson and David Boies still had much to say about today's arguments in a post-hearing press conference.

David Boies, co-counsel for the plaintiffs in Tuesday’s hearing before the Supreme Court, spoke exclusively to David Gregory on NBC’s Meet The Press today. And among many arguments, Boies once again likened our fight for marriage equality to that of civil rights, as well as handicapped what he believes is our likelihood of prevailing at the high court. See the video and hear his odds, after the jump!

The West Hollywood Decision Day rally certainly had a more tame feel than those that covered these same streets a year ago. But with tame also came celebration!

Aside from some politicos, celebs, activists and a thousand or so attendees, the stars of the rally were the very people responsible for the historic case in the first place: Plaintiffs Kris Perry & Sandy Stier, Paul Katami & Jeff Zarrillo; and (pretty fucking awesome) lawyers David Boies and Ted Olson.

*Plaintiffs Kris & Sandy

The crew jumped on a plane after spending the early afternoon in San Francisco for the decision and each one of them addressed the crowd. The four plaintiffs each echoed what the case and fight is all about at the end of the day: their desire...

We’ve covered the Prop. 8 trial pretty extensively here on the Instinct blog, but have you ever wondered how the two lead counselors for our side, Ted Olson and David Boies—one-time opposing lawyers—ended up on the same side fighting for gay rights?

In two parts airing tonight on CNN’s Campbell Brown (8 p.m., ET), CNN senior political analyst Gloria Borger examines how after nearly a decade, these two political “opposites” became friends, and how a group of Hollywood activists brought them together to challenge Proposition 8.

Click here for a sneak peek, but be sure to catch the full story tonight on CNN.

The expected final day of the Prop. 8 trial got off to a much calmer start than yesterday, as David Blankenhorn was back on the stand for his continued cross-exam by plaintiffs’ attorney David Boies. Boies spent a good amount of time asking Blackenhorn about his prior writings, some of which actually seem to place same-sex marriage in a favorable light.

“I’m going to start with some things we agree on. You agree that marriage is a public good,” asked Boies.

“Yes.”

“What is a public good?”

“Benefits society...

Update:

The second half of the day got underway with the defense’s second witness, founder and president of the Institute for American Values, David Blankenhorn. He is being called to testify on the big hot-button issue that procreation is the foundation of marriage, and therefore same-sex marriage ruins such an institution. Of course the plaintiffs argue that this is really a veiled proposition aimed at discriminating against gays and lesbians.

Prop. 8 lead attorney Charles Cooper opened questioning.

"What is marriage?" Cooper asked.

"A socially approved sexual relationship between a man and a woman," Blankenhorn said.

"What does marriage do?"

"The most important thing it does is regulate affiliation. It establishes...

Update:

Boies continued to poke holes in Miller’s direct testimony, and also his personal feelings toward gay rights.

“Do you believe that laws that discriminate against intimate relationships between gays and lesbians is prejudice?” asked Boies.

“I would vote to repeal such laws. I have no idea what good purpose would they would serve,” Miller answered.

Of course, the big misstep came when Miller, the witness on the Prop. 8 side and the supposed “expert” called federal laws prohibiting gays to serve or marry discriminatory.

“Are you aware of any official discrimination against gays and lesbians in this country today other than DADT policy?” asked Boies.

“I’m trying to think of other laws that are ...
