Days of Our Lives is doing a great job keeping these winter afternoons steamy!

If Jodie Foster's insta-classic speech didn't clue you in, the gay awards season has kicked off, y'all!

The GLAAD Media Awards, arguably the gayest annual awards ceremony (sorry, Tony Awards!), welcomed a new class of nominees this morning. Which stars of pop-culture and media will vie for the honors in March (New York), April (L.A.) and May (S.F.)? 

It took them an unrealistically long time even by modern heterosexual standards, but Will & Sonny, Days of Our Lives' controversial gay characters, have finally covered all their bases. The action happened off camera, but according to a post coital assessment by the pair, it was "great."

Our friends at Towleroad brought it to our attention that our favorite daytime couple, Will and Sonny, were being censored on YouTube!

More accurately, their steamy kissing scene (complete with ::gasp:: the unbuttoning of a shirt!) was deemed "inappropriate" and an age verification was instituted.

We were less than pleased when Days of Our Lives had their lead gay male character, Will Horton, sleeping with a girl, but it looks like things may be getting back on track now that Will's hooking up with sexy Sonny.

Days of Our Lives caught quite a bit of heat from our readers yesterday when it was revealed that the show's leading gay character, Will, would suddenly be doing the horizonal tango with a female.

Perhaps that why the show is also promoting its upcoming gay bullying storyline centered around the character, Sonny.

We wonder if the GLAAD Awards have a "No Take-Backs" rule because we're sure they're side-eyeing Days Of Our Lives right now!

The soap had been giving us life over the past year with their beautifully crafted story following Will Horton's coming-out process.

Now the show's newly hired writers, Gary Tomlin and Chris Whitesell, are turning the whole story on its head and having Will have sex with a girl. Classy.

We've been pretty vocal fans of Days Of Our Lives' treatment of Will Horton's coming out storyline. (And we still maintain that daytime television, with its daily episodic format, offers a unique opportunity to delve into the intricacies of this type of subject matter, so stop cancelling our soaps!)

We were totally thrilled to see Will's portrayer, Chandler Massey, walk away with the Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his work! 

This is the first time an actor has won a Daytime Emmy for playing a gay character. Watch his Emmy win after the jump!

Facebook wasn't the only honoree at Saturday's Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation's 23rd annual Media Awards.

Hosted by the lovely Dianna Agron (Glee), the awards ceremony highlighted great work from the past year.

The big gay moment Days of Our Lives fans have been waiting for has finally happened: Will Horton has come out to his parents. But, in typical daytime fashion, not all goes as expected and is met with a bit of a twist.

We have to say, Days Of Our Lives is giving us EVERYTHING right now with Will’s coming out storyline!

And interestingly, it’s his interaction with his grandmothers that we’re enjoying most.

He’s got his paternal grandmother, Kate, the sassy and let’s say it—bitchy—fashionista businesswoman, who’s basically saying, “You’re gay. I know it. I’ve always known it, now let’s get fabulous!”

Then he’s got Marlena, mother to Will’s mom (the devious Sami—yes she may have “reformed” but Sami Brady will always be a bad girl at heart), who’s all gentle goodness, light, and understanding. It doesn’t hurt that she’s a psychiatrist. 

Both women are tackling Will’s sexuality issues in different ways, but...

Days Of Our Lives has finally caught up with the new millennium and aired its first gay kiss on Thursday's episode. Better late than never, right? (We'll cut the show some slack because it gave us that smoldering shirtless stud slideshow yesterday. And no, we did not lisp any "s" in that sequence, thankyouverymuch.)
