In yet another example of "It's not how you get there, as long as you get there," former Vice President Dick Cheney has come out in support of same-sex marriage and is specifically using his voice to lobby on behalf of same-sex marriage in Maryland. The “Civil Marriage Protection Act” is being debated today on the House floor, in what promises to be a very close vote.

Dick Cheney extended yet another olive branch to the GLBT community yesterday on ABC News This Week when he finally put vocalized support for a repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell down on record.

With such a notorious architect of policy on our side, whether you like him or not, why can't we make more happen? Or is the man attempting to appear more progressive than he was during his reign so that his party has a chance of stealing away pink dollars from the Dems come November?

With the end of any year comes the expected best of- and worst of- compilations (shameless plug: Instinct’s own sassy take on the B&W of 09 is out now!). But, Newsweek has take it a step further and gotten all decade on us, with their take on the most memorable quotes of the decade.

Granted, many of these are more infamous at this point. Case in point, then President George Bush’s “Brownie, you’re doing a heck of a job,” at a post-Katrina press conference. Or John McCain’s assertion that “the fundamentals of the economy are strong,” as America was on the brink of a recession. Or Cheney telling Patrick Lehay to “go fuck yourself” while on the senate floor. Classics, really.
