Well that's an analogy we hadn't heard yet.
While speaking to a group of 100 students at Spring Arbor University yesterday as part of the Thomas H. Cobb President’s Leadership Speaker Series, former Presidential candidate and virulent homophobe Alan Keyes equated the right to marriage equality with...a child that picks their nose and eats what comes out.

As Republicans convene this week to assess their party's arguably failing platform, social conservatives are threatening to jump ship if the party takes any steps in the direction towards equality.
Thirteen influential wingnuts (joined, of course, by hate group leader Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council) penned a letter to the Republican National Committee telling them to affirm the party's 2012 platform, which supported a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and supported the Defense of Marriage Act, or face abandonment by their socially conservative base.

Updated April 10 at 5 p.m. (PST):
Well it's now really official. Uruguay's House just voted and passed (as expected) the marriage equality bill with a vote of 71-21!
President Jose Mujica has said he intends to sign the bill into law.

The crucial vote on marriage equality in the French Senate took place Tuesday night, with 179 votes (to 157) supporting removing the "opposite-sex only" provision in French law. A final vote is scheduled in the next few weeks, but passage of marriage equality is basically secured at this point.
Still, French homophobes are unwilling to give up.
