Though the damage has already been done and its effects will be felt for years to come, Mark Regnerus admits that his study isn't really about gay parents.

Has the University of Texas at Austin just implicitly agreed with junk science to condemn loving same-sex parents?

Despite receiving widespread calls from the scientific community to retract Mark Regnerus's infamous "study" on same-sex parents (which didn't even really study same-sex parents), U of T has decided to call off the official investigation it had promised earlier this summer.

Mark Regnerus's incredibly flawed study on same-sex parenting has been dismantled and discredited time and time again, but anti-gay forces refuse to bow to reason and continue to spread the dangerous ideas espoused in his attack on gay families.

That's why 200 Ph.D.s and M.D.s and a new petition are demanding that Social Science Research, the publication which published the flawed, NOM-linked study, apologize and retract Regnerus's work.

Details follow.

Remember Mark Regnerus' flawed study that proclaimed that children raised by gay or lesbian parents fare worse than those raised by heterosexual couples? (You know, the one homophobes will be citing for the next 20 years even though it's clearly baseless?)

Apparently the American Psychological Association (APA) saw it too and the APA wanted to make it very clear that they disagree.

See what they had to say after the jump!

Zach Wahls, the Iowa college student that became interweb famous after eloquently speaking out in support of his two moms, has shot down a controversial, newly released study that alleges that children raised by gay parents will be negatively affected in the long-run.

The study, which shockingly (read: not shockingly) has funding ties with the Family Research Council (an anti-gay hate group) confuses causation with causality. Wahls and Slate's Will Saletan argue that the data found by the study actually points to the idea that children raised in a stable two parent/same-sex partner home have no noted negative outcome.

More, plus Zach Wahl's interview with Eliot Spitzer on Current's Viewpoint after the jump!
