Our Google Alert for the keywords "Ben Cohen bares end" has finally produced a result! Turns out the seizure-inducing stud will join the cast of West End Bares (London's answer to New York's infamous Broadway Bares) for the annual show in September! 

Publicists know exactly how to spark our attention in the mountain of email blasts that land in our inbox. Of course we'll look at an email with "Beneath the Sheets" written in the subject line. And of course we'll tell Siri to clear our schedule the moment we see "drinks" on the event invitation.

Ben Cohen, easily England's hottest rugby star, and, more importantly, an ardent straight ally of the LGBT community, wants to have a beer with you to raise money for GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network). Is it just our Trenti macchiato talking or is "Beer with Ben" the greatest fundraising idea ever?

The American Foundation for Equal Rights raised $3 million to fight Prop H8 during a fundraiser in Beverly Hills, and anti-Prop8 warrior Ted Olson was feeling particularly rosy about the whole thing. 

"This is number one. This is the most important case that I know I've ever had. It means so much to so many people... We're feeling the change of public opinion almost like flowers blooming in the spring you can almost see them growing, and it's so moving to see this happen."

Earlier this month we told you about an American Foundation for Equal Rights benefit featuring a performance by Elton John. Well the event, which sought to raise money in the fight against Proposition 8, happened last night, featured a 90-minute intimate concert showcasing 16 of Elton's classics, AND RAISED $3 MILLION DOLLARS! Whew! A huge kudos is due to AFER and Sir Elton.

Sir Elton did more singing than speaking, yet made clear that he recognized the political ramifications of the event and his role there. He is openly gay and, as he noted, he and his partner had a son on Christmas day. He was at turns politic and caustic in his description of politicians and church leaders who oppose gay ...
