We've actually already posted a few transcripts today, but this one is easily the best.
Culled from the "You Couldn't Make This Stuff Up" section of the customer-service industry's shoutbox website, NotAlwaysRight.com:
Little Girl: “Hello?”
Me: “Hi, may I talk to the lady of this residence?”
Little Girl: “That’s me.”
Me: “I mean, may I talk to your mom?”
Little Girl: “I have two dads.”
Me: “Oh well, never mind then. Have a nice day!”
Little Girl: “Wait! Why did you call?”
Me: “I’m selling make-up.”
Little Girl: “Oh! One of my daddies loves that stuff, it makes him look pretty when he goes dancing! Let me give him the phone! Dad! Dad! Some girl wants to make you look pretty!”

The recently-released 2010 U.S. Census numbers have been shedding lots of light on the changing demographics of the country lately, but what the New York Times highlights today might be one of the most fascinating gems in the survey: the American South boast the most same-sex parent households.
From the NYT:
As demographers sift through recent data releases from the Census Bureau, they have found that Jacksonville is home to one of the biggest populations of gay parents in the country.
In addition, the data show, child rearing among same-sex couples is more common in the South than in any other region of the country, according to Gary Gates, a demographer at the UCLA. Gay couples in Southern states like Arkansas, Louisiana,... FULL STORY

Using the homophobic momentum he's built from the George Rekers scandal (he paid Rekers over $150k for "expert" testimony to ban gay couples from becoming parents), Florida Attorney Bill McCollum has reitterated his redneck bigotry by announcing that he opposes gay parenting of any sort, whether adoption or foster.
However, McCollum admitted the he wants to wait for the state's Supreme Court to weigh in on the discussion before announcing his next move in his campaign to ruin the lives of Florida's children in need of loving homes.
McCollum is running to become the republicunt governor of Florida.

Tags: gay parenting, same sex, adoption, studies, research, university of virginia Last month we learned that children raised in lesbian households outperformed peers raised by heterosexual couples.
This month, a new study conducted by the University of Virginia has found that children raised by gay or lesbian parents develop into healthy young adults at the same pace as the children of different-sex parents.
Yes, some in this country (looking your way Arkansas) need an academic study to tell them this. GLBT parents are still routinely banned for adoption (see last week's article on Russia banning children from being adopted by same-sex parents), a lamentable fact researchers from U.Va hope to end with their research. "We found that children adopted by lesbian or gay couples are thriving," says U.Va Psychology Professor... FULL STORY

Lamb’s cross-examination went on for nearly five hours—which Judge Walker apparently became annoyed by around hour four—as Thompson went through hundreds of pages of Lamb’s research to try and convince the court that there were faults in his conclusions. Prop. 8’s defense teams main point they were trying to drive home in all of this is that Lamb himself has not studied heterosexual parents, so he therefore can’t draw comparisons between gay and straight parenting, even though he pointed to others' studies.
After finally finishing cross, the plaintiffs’ team called Helen Zia, a lesbian who was married before Prop. 8 went into effect, to the stand. But after she was sworn in, Prop. 8’s team said the witness was irrelevant... FULL STORY
