The storm of controversy sparked by the AT&T/T-Mobile merger letter of recommendation GLAAD sent to the FCC doesn't seem to be dissipating anytime soon. First, the controversial letter of support that left the LGBT community scratching its collective chin lead to GLAAD President Jarret Barrios's resignation over the weekend. On Wednesday, six more heads of the organization reportedly topple. Today, GLAAD releases its first official statement on the string of resignations. Read it after the jump.

GLAD Denounces RI Civil Unions Bill
Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) reported that they are unhappy with the religious exemption amendment in Rhode Island's civil union bill because of potential risks to same-sex couples in regards to health insure, hospital visitations and more. GLAD said in a press release:
"Everyone agrees that religious denominations should not be required to join any two people in any legal relationship – whether marriage or a civil union – that is contrary to their religious teachings.
