The world was introduced to Magic Johnson's fabulous gay son, Earvin Jr., yesterday and we were thrilled to learn that EJ's parents support him 100%!

Well they're not the only ones. Fellow Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant, who's famously gone through his own evolution over the years with regards to sensitivity towards the LGBT community, is also voicing his support.

Apparently not all conservative politicians are following Sen. Rob Portman's lead.

Swell.

While we're not generally advocates for recording a person's private conversations, we definitely got a kick out of this subway encounter that New York blogger Rafi D'Angelo captured this week for his blog So Let's Talk About__.

While riding the subway, D'Angelo overheard (and recorded) a conversation between two "middle-aged white guys with Long Island accents, mustaches, dirty jeans — the type of guys you’d expect to see on a building site" who both also happened to have gay sons.

It's kind of an instant classic. Read the convo after the jump!

We saw one dad's gracious acceptance and display of unconditional love last week when he preemptively wrote his son a letter to calm any fears he may have about coming out as gay.

Unfortunately, now we're seeing the flip side of that.

Queerty published an email that a reader submitted in which a father denounces his son as "revolting," amongst other descriptions, for being gay. Check out the email after the jump.

One of our favorite stories over the course of the holiday weekend was Frank Bruni's piece in The New York Times.

Bruni charts his father's evolution from detachment to fully embracing his gay son. It's quite the read and may have had us questioning what foreign liquid substance was suddenly expelling itself from our eyes. Seriously. We're creeped out.

Minnesota Viking Chis Kluwe has once again typed off a letter so brilliant, so sassy, so educational that we might have to take yet another lunch break to try and calm down from all the swooning. This time the unlucky target on the other side of Chris's acerbic tongue is Archbishop Nienstedt of St. Paul/Minneapolis, who soaked up headlines earlier this week for telling a Catholic mother she would go to hell if she chose to love her gay son.

So, what does Chris have to say to Archbishop Nienstedt? Grab the popcorn and follow the jump to find out!

In certain ways Sally Field has always felt like everyone's mom. We're sure our back-to-back screening of her original Steel Magnolias followed by the new Lifetime version only amplified the idea. (We'll let you make your own judgments on who wins in a contest between Sally Field and Queen Latifah).

Still, her speech this weekend as she accepted the Human Rights Campaign's Ally For Equality Award in Washington D.C. had us ready to draft official adoption papers.

Field spoke passionately in support of her openly gay son, Sam, and the LGBT community in general. It's definitely something to see!
