Hong Kong's highest court has ruled that a transgender woman has the right to marry her boyfriend. It's a huge step forward in the acknowledgment of the transgender community as being members of the gender with which they identify.
Though same-sex marriage is not currently legal in the country, this certainly bodes well for its future passage as well.

Wow! In a bold move that, if passed, will certainly provide incentive for groups to embrace equality, California State Senator Ricardo Lara (D-Long Beach) and Equality California, today, announced the introduction of new legislation that would remove a state tax exemption for any youth group, that discriminates against members and leaders on the basis of sexual orientation or gender identity.
And yep, that includes the Boy Scouts.

The American Psychiatric Association (APA) approved a landmark revision to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
Transgender and gender non-conforming individuals will no longer have their identities classified as a mental disorder. Until now transgendered people have been diagnosed with "gender identity disorder."
The upcoming edition of the manual, DSM-V, will diagnose transgendered individuals with "gender dysphoria."

We watched this clip through gritted teeth as Missouri Reverend Phil Snider of Brentwood Christian Church argued with blinding zeal and hatred that sexual orientation and gender identity should not be added to Springfield, Missouri's nondiscrimination ordinance.
The Reverend shamefully uses the Bible to promote fear and ignorance towards members of the LGBT community...and then something miraculous happens.
