It's just been announced that GLAAD President Herndon Graddick has resigned, after a bit more than a year in the position, effective immediately.
“I'm proud to leave GLAAD with a stronger, more efficient organization and an incredibly talented and experienced Board and staff," Graddick said in a statement to the press. "I'm happy the role I was able to play in advancing the need for our community to fully support the rights of our transgender brothers and sisters. Our movement is benefited by the leadership not only of heroes like Evan Wolfson, Chad Griffin, Mara Keisling, and Kate Kendell, but of the necessary and vital blogger and grassroots communities. Bret Easton Ellis spent a large part of the weekend doing what he seems to do best lately: complaining on Twitter. This time around it's not Glee or HIV positive gay men he's roughing up, it's GLAAD.
According to the openly gay author, GLAAD banned him from attending its annual Media Awards on Saturday. Then, he goes on to claim, they asked that he keep the story private and not tweet about it.
But GLAAD fired back with its version of events.

President Bill Clinton was honored by GLAAD with the Advocate for Change award last night at the star studded GLAAD Media Awards Gala in Los Angeles.
The decision to honor Clinton was met with controversy based on his role in the passage of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which was clearly on the minds of many in attendance.

The San Francisco Giants will be honored at the GLAAD Media Awards on May 11 in San Francisco.
The Giants will be receiving the Corporate Leader Award, which is presented to companies or organizations that have demonstrated a stalwart commitment to building support for equality.
