While an aged version of Christian Bale's Batman would employ the ideal baritone integral to any Dorothy Zbornak ripoff, does Superman have the necessary bedpost notches to qualify as Blanche?

Still, the Super Friends—meets—Golden Girls mash-up, "Super Golden Friends," easily takes the cheesecake Video of the Day crown.

If you're like us, then the past few weeks have been taken up with countless conversations trying to explain what a "kiki" is to your hetero friends. (And for the 900th time, yes, it is different than a "ki ki.") Thankfully Videodrome Discotheque has come to the resscue, putting our new favorite Scissor Sisters track to visual—and fabulous!—form! Follow the jump and get your kiki on...

"Take me to St. Olaf (A Song For Rose Nylund)" might leave a lot to be desired, but we won't say that we're not excited to hear the rest of Johnny McGovern's EP Songs About the Golden Girls. Watch the low-budget video after the jump for a few fleeting moments of hilarious nostaliga.

So the Smoking Gun did some digging and came away with a comprehensive report -- including photos -- of Bea Arthur's time working for the Marines in the 1940s. Seems Bea enlisted when wind first swept up to her six-foot high ears that women were beign given jobs with the military. The Smoking Gun's report shows that she started as a typist, moved her way up to driving trucks before working her way up to a sergeant. Best part is -- BEA DENIED ALL OF THIS.

That's right, Bea Arthur took her stint in the Marines to the grave, claiming it was all conjecture. Lesbian rumors ran in parallel with her career, so my finger is on that as the culprit.

But here's Smoking Gun's proof that our lady Bea, may God rest her soul, was one of the brave and ...

I can barely type this morsel of sacrilegious (and following the Lord's day, too!) news, but I couldn't fathom not sharing: a porn parody of our beloved cultural institution, The Golden Girls, is about to start filming. The adult-version is obviously said to be an all-MILF XXX fantasy. As of press time, no Facebook group begging the producers to have Betty White star in the show has surfaced.

Thoughts, Instincters?!

In another Golden Girls related post for the week, it's being reported that Rue McClanahan has suffered a stroke. The woman that inspired many a gay man is said to be recovering in a hospital, unable to speak. If physical and speech therapy go well, doctors tell us that Rue will be able to recover at home in a few weeks.

Rue's husband spoke with Broadway World about her recovery. "She can understand what you are saying in conversation, but still has some trouble speaking. Her speech is slower than it once was and she hasn't completely recovered on the right side of her body. She's going to require a lot more physical and speech therapy - but at least it's not like I stay awake at nights any more thinking that Rue is going to die...

Our week is shaping up to be all about marriage equality (the Prop 8 trial) and the Golden Girls (Golden Girls 2.0, ya'll!). But then again, doesn't every week of our gay lives concern these two topics?

In the interest of synergy, we'd love to dust off a classic clip of our favorite gals from the 80s discussing marriage equality. Enjoy!

We had to change our 2Xists after writing that headline, too!

A new pilot is being shot that many are calling the "new" Golden Girls. Hot in Cleveland has just announced a cast including Just Shoot Me's Wendie Malick, Frasier's Jane Leeves and Valerie Bertinelli, starring as three forty fifty-somethings who get stuck in Cleveland and decide to stay. None other than Betty White is cast to play an older woman who lives in the trio's cottage.

So basically, Betty will play Sophia. As far as the others, do you see any of the above actresses molding to the other three Golden Girls characters?

I’ll give it to the religious right – they might've explained my curious lifelong addiction to The Golden Girls.

On Christwire.org, Stephenson Billings makes a compelling case *sarcasm* for the havoc that the hit 80s sitcom inflicted on an entire generation of boys:

The most unexpected segment of this show’s fanbase was America’s young men. In the 80s, these were boys too delicate for sports, too awkward for girls, too “artistic” for labor-intensive work and too flamboyant for peer acceptance in high school. With no real adults in sight, these poor children became obsessed with the poorly conceived characters on this show. Desperate for a firm hand in their lives, they gravitated to the subversive undercurrent of masculinity...
