It took less than a day, but the unreasonable reaction from the religious right to yesterday’s passage of hate crimes protection legislation is off and running. Labeling the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act as anti-Christian and pro-pedophile really takes some creativity.
World Net Daily, in an article titled “Congress Passes ‘Pedophile Protection Act,’” argues that the legislation will allow law enforcement to “crack down on Christian speech, even reading of the Bible.”
Also fast to spin the historic act was the always ethical American Family Association, which very quickly organized a call to action, asking its sheeple to send Congress a harshly-worded note filled with crazy drivel.
