Libby Phelps-Alvarez, an ex-Westboro Baptist member who has parted ways with her family, appeared on Anderson to give a behind-the-scenes look at the church's infamous protests ... and to apologize for her actions. 

Megan Phelps-Roper, the granddaughter of Westboro head homophobe Fred and the daughter of the current face of the clan, Shirley, has left her family and the congregation behind in the pursuit of sanity. 

A viral video from Australian satirical news team, The Chaser, is making the rounds in the wake of Westboro Baptist Church's announcement that they'll be picketing the funerals of the deceased victims of the Newtown, Connecticut shooting. 

The video, in which The Chaser reporter, Chris Firth, gets more than a little friendly with Fred Phelps, Jr., was shot years ago, but it certainly holds up. Homophobes fleeing in gay panic never gets old.

Today the Pentagon celebrated LGBT Pride Month.

No, they didn't raise a rainbow flag, or have Naval soldiers in sailor suits performing "YMCA" or "In The Navy," but they did take the time to respecfully honor and acknowledge the sacrifices of gay and lesbian servicemembers.

During a competition that included Michael Phelps on Thursday night, it was swimmer Nathan Adrian's booty that was the clear winner. (Well, Nathan himself, too; even with the drag of an open-flap Speedo swimsuit that resembles our favorite after hours ensemble the hunky athlete was able to walk away with the win!) Marriage equality hasn't even been signed in to law by Maryland Gov. O'Malley (he'll add his signature in a ceremony on Thursday), but the effort to repeal the civil rights legislation by referendum has already received a big boost of support from Balitmore's local Fox affiliate. Details follow. 

Turns out the Westboro Baptist Church's threat to protest Whitney Houston's funeral over the weekend was as empty as the heads playing home to their pioneer-era hairdos. (Jeez, if anybody needs a few filthy homosexuals in their lives it's the flat-haired women of Westboro.) Though they didn't make good on their protest promise, don't expect the clan's lead mouthpiece, Margie Phelps, to be honest about it.
