I'm sorry, but Colin Firth and director Tom Hooper turned a questionable idea about a speech impediment into an engaging and gorgeous film. Without them, transferring the story of The King's Speech onto the Broadway stage (a plan that is in the works) sounds like a bad idea. But could another go at the story be just as pleasantly surprising? Details follow.
