In a world with a 24-hour news cycle and the ability to update followers in 140 characters every few seconds, is there such a thing as "too soon?" Saturday Night Live might test the limits of those archaic words this weekend when one of its most-uproarious veterans, Maya Rudolph, hosts the venerable show. Rumor has it that SNL writers and producers are considering writing a sketch around one of Maya's most well-known celebrity impersonations, Whitney Houston.

There were lots of standout moments during the Sunday night telecast of the Grammy Awards, but it's really this year's stylists who walk away winners for upping the game on fuckery. The Grammys have always been edgy fashion terrain, a safe zone for the experimental outfits best sold on rock stars. But watching the red carpet of the 2012 Grammys, you had to wonder if the industry was handing out trophies for "Best Singer To Out-Gaga Mother Monster." Despite the ... wait for it ... *reductive* "who can be weirder than Grace Jones & more provocative than Madonna" competition last night, the spotlight wasn't stolen from these memorable performances...

A representative of Whitney Houston has confirmed to the AP that iconic singer Whitney Houston has died at age 48. The cause of death remains undisclosed at this time. 

From the AP:

Beverly Hills police Lt. Mark Rosen told reporters outside the Beverly Hilton that Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. in her room on the fourth floor of the hotel. Her body remained there and Beverly Hills detectives were investigating.

"There were no obvious signs of any criminal intent," Rosen said.

Houston's publicist, Kristen Foster, said the cause of death was unknown.

Rosen said police received a 911 call from hotel security about Houston at 3:43 p.m. Saturday. Paramedics who were already at the hotel because of a Grammy party unsuccessfully...
