Another gay judge has just been nominated to the federal bench!

Today, President Obama's list of judicial nominees included Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro. Alejandro has been nominated to fill one of the three vacant seats on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

If selected, Judge Alejandro will become the first openly gay Hispanic judge at the federal level.

Bruce Harris, the African-American openly-gay Republican mayor of Chatham in New Jersey, narrowly missed appointment to New Jersey's Supreme Court.

Democrats voted against his nomination citing his lack of courtroom experience and his willingness to recuse himself in court cases dealing with same-sex marriage.
