It looks like the U.S. Supreme Court will be reviewing a high profile Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) case this week. 

Interestingly this particular case will be brought to the court by a California couple married during the short window where same-sex marriage was legal in the state.

Many House Democrats are eager to distance themselves from their anti-gay congressional colleagues.

A large majority of House Dems joined House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in submitting what's being described as "the Democratic Members' brief."

The brief, submitted to the California federal appeals court, conveys the Democratic party's support for Karen Golinski in her lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act.

The Obama Administration's Justice Department has filed a request with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to ask that it expedite its upcoming case related to the Defense of Marriage Act.
