The drama from last week’s DADT protest in D.C. has yet to dissipate. Lt. Dan Choi – who was sent to jail after marching to the White House and handcuffing himself to the perimeter fence – tells Newsweek that he feels betrayed by the Human Rights Campaign and Kathy Griffin.
"When I heard Kathy Griffin was going to be a spokeswoman for Don't Ask, Don't Tell, I wondered about that. I have great respect for her as an advocate. But if [the Human Rights Campaign] thinks that having a rally at Freedom Plaza with a comedienne is the right approach, I have to wonder. Don't Ask, Don't Tell is not a joking matter to me. To be at Freedom Plaza and not at the White House or Congress? Who are they trying to influence? I felt like they were just... FULL STORY

If you're in the DC area tomorrow, Thursday, March 18, why not make an appearance on Kathy Griffin's Emmy-winning My Life On The D-List and help voice support for the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell at the same time? It's like killing two birds with one rhinestone!
From Kathy:
"Calling all DC gays and ALL good citizens who support EQUALITY!!! After traveling to Iraq and Afghanistan to perform for the troops and visiting with injured vets and their families at Walter Reed, I've gotten to meet and know many gay members of our brave military. Their stories are heartbreaking, touching, and need to be heard. They cannot stand up for themselves, so it's time we stand up for them and be their voice. They put their lives on the line for ... If you watched this year's New Year's Eve with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffin on CNN, you know that Kathy upped her ante considerable from the dick jokes of years past. Hardcore drug references, many quips depicting hottie Anderson Cooper pleasuring himself in front of the mirror and a joyful, happy new year f-bomb marked Kathy's glorious return to the network's special. And we enjoyed every tawdry second of it. CNN, not so much.
At the beginning of the broadcast Kathy waved around a contract that was nearly as heavy as our new year's day hangover, and described the lengthy list of items she could not legally emit during the broadcast. Guess the f-bomb was one of them as now Popeater is reporting that Kathy Griffin is banned by... FULL STORY

Whether or not he's gay, straight, in or out of the closet, CNN is certainly going for the gay demographic for Anderson Cooper's New Year's Eve special this year. Over the past few years our lady in red, Kathy Griffin, has been increasing her visibility on the program, last year becoming Coop's co-host. And even after her oops-this-is-totally-live-tv barrading of a Times Square drunk last year, CNN asked her to come back again!
Yay! Bring on the freaked-out producers.
But clearly Coop and Kathy aren't enough sass for the countdown, so CNN is throwing another mo in the mix: the not quite sassy, and probably not very funny, but very cute and very gay Lance Bass. Though CNN is sticking him in Vegas to join the broadcast on remote (see you ... FULL STORY

It’s been a long year since RuPaul’s Drag Race crowned its first winner, but thankfully the wait is almost over for more bitchery! Season 2 of the Logo hit kicks off February 1, and now we know who will be sitting beside Ru to help separate the ladies from the ladies each week.
A drag queen in her own right, Kathy Griffin will be sitting in as a guest judge this season, as will Jackie Collins, Teri Nunn from Berlin, Kathy Najimi, Cloris Leachman, Debbie Reynolds, Tatum O’Neal, Henry Rollins, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Dita Von Teese, Niecy Nash, Martha Wash, Lisa Rinna, Alec Mapa, photographer and former Instinct coverboy Mike Ruiz and more.
Quite the eclectic mix, if we do say so ourselves.

We like our holidays over spiked eggnog with a side of screamingly-funny satire. While we'd love to sit on Hunky Santa's lap, we are excited that another big-red, Kathy Griffin, is helping make our Yuletide just as gay (in the 50s sense!). We've been suckin' it for the holidays since high school, but our favorite D-Lister has put an entire new, hilarious spin on the concept with her Christmas-time CD release, Suckin' It For The Holidays. And as a huge thank you, ravishing readers, for subscribing to our blog, one of our holigay gifts to you is the gift of Suckin' It!
Simply subscribe for free with our fabulous blog here and then head over to our Swag Suite area for a chance to win a copy of Kathy! Good luck!

Per usual, hilarity ensues.

Tags: oprah book club, kathy griffin, uwem akpan Oprah's announced her new book club selection, and to our favorite ginger-haired comedienne's dismay, it's not "Official Book Club Selection."
Endowing her ability to start a publishing gold rush on a short, short (as in stories) man, Oprah has selected author Uwem Akpan's debut collection of shorts, "Say You're One Of Them" as her much-anticipated Book Club pick.

Tags: kathy griffin, activism, first person, bakersfield Kathy Griffin made me question if I am a bad gay or not. For the most part, that is until recently, Kathy has taken me to a happy, comical place. But now, she’s taken me to a place of duty and urgency. Am I not making any sense? Ok, here’s the thing – after seeing Kathy live and hearing her talk about the importance of combating Prop 8 and seeing her My Life On The D-List special, I can’t help but feel compelled to do something.
I live in a small town, or at least a city that believes it’s still a small town. I’m in the Central Valley of California. That alone should say enough. There’s a small gay/lesbian group here that advocates for gay rights, and I am not a part of it. But I am beginning to rethink my lack of involvement... FULL STORY

Tags: Gay!, kathy griffin, oprah We love our Kathy Griffin. She's funny, loud, smart. But mostly we love her because she has no shame!
You've likely heard that she has a memoir coming out in September, and you've also then likely heard that she had the balls (wit?) to called it Official Book Club Selection, a la Oprah's famous picks.
Well, now Kathy is trying to make good on the name with this plea:
"Calling all of my fans. I need your support!!!!!!!
Dear Oprah, please make Kathy's book an OFFICIAL BOOK CLUB SELECTION! Go to the link, sign-in and support this petition if you think Oprah should pick Kathy's book!"
She's already blown past her initial goal of 10,000 signatures, though I suspect it'll take much more than that to land on O's couch. Check out the petition, which ... FULL STORY
